New outfits for Monster High dolls

This month I tried to pay attention to my Monster High dolls. There were two reasons for this. First - I have more of Monster High than I should (but less than I would like to have). They have different skntones, different hair color and hairstyle... So every outfit I make is like something totally new and exciting.

Second - as You know, I have Etsy shop. This month I joined a team called "TEAM + 10". It's a "challenge for sellers that want to grow their business. Add +10 listings to your shop each month, or set your own goal!" One of my goals was to add at least 10 doll outfits. So I thought this time I could be Monster High doll outfits.

So, this post is kind of gallery of my March goal in "TEAM + 10". As month is not over yet, I have only six outfits this far, but I will  make more :) After all, my Claudine werewolf and roller skater Frankie also wants to be models :)

So, here I present You my newest Monster High doll dress collection - all dresses are crocheted. Each dress has some matching accessorie - either headband, or belt, or bracelets... Also all of them are kind of "OOAK" (one-of-a-kind") - I don't use any patterns so I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make another same looking outfit - somethind very similar - yes, but not same.

New year...

The new year has begun. I barely have had time for myself - hobbies, crafts, life - lately. Well, let's say - I felt like robot last 6 months - my dayjob took all my resources. I can't say I did not like my job - I loved it. I still do. But I had to make decision - job or health. So I did. I have to work 2 more weeks and then I'm unemployed again. That means - I will have time for crafting and dolls.
Yep, since last post here my doll "family" has grown. Total number for now - 44 dolls. I don't think this number will grow much more, but now all these "people" need clothes, accessories, space...
As for clothes... I played a bit and here are some dresses for fashion dolls. Model for these dresses - Barbie Fashionista, but dresses fit also Silkstone Barbie, Fashion Royalty dolls, Liv dolls.

Dolls, dolls and more dolls...

I know I haven't written quite long time. Very many things have happened - all august I was very busy with few large custom orders and on September... well, I got a job! Real day job. I start to feel little bit less scared about how to survive. But it means also, that I won't have enough time for crafting. I work only two weeks for now and I have not made ANYTHING within these two weeks. Sad... :(

But enough about sad things. Here are some great news - my doll family now has few more members :) So, let me introduce:

Frankie
Frankie is 11" fashion doll from Mattel company. Her full name is Frankie Stein.
"Frankie Stein is only 15 days old, created by her dad, a mad scientist. She has green skin, stitches, and bolts, and is new to Monster High. She is the daughter of Dr. Frankeinstein's monster and his bride (from Wikipedia)
For me Frankie is adorable creature, very romantic and very girly.

Rihanna's real name is Reese, she is Dynamite girl. I fell in love with her hair color and... here she is - elegant, flirty and very self conscious.

As You can see - I love dolls with articulated bodies :) But it is not so important - sometimes I just like some small detail in the doll and other things don't seem important anymore.

Next doll I want You to meet is from 80' (I bought her as model of 1981, but I think it's 1984 after all) - meet Sintya!
Her real name is Sindy and reason I wanted her - her face impression. I cannot define what it was, but it was something special I saw. So i got her :)

And my last doll (but, believe me, not for long ;) ) - well, guess what - it's a boy! I had never thought that I would buy male doll, but... at first, Frankie needed company (ok., she actually needed boyfriend), and at second... I don't know - may be it was just my weakness - cute doll, great price, articulated body... So, meet  Jackson - male doll from Monster High doll series (he is only one I haven't made clothes for yet so he is posing in his original outfit):

As you can see - he is gentleman - flowers for girl - it's so sweet, isn't it?

And girls cannot resist... :)

New outfits for Barbie, new doll for me!

Few days ago I tried to sew and as a result Blythe got new pants. But Barbie felt little bit upset that she did not get anything. So I just had to make something for her, too.  And Barbie got new mini skirt! She was so excited that agreed to pose for my online handmade doll clothes shop. We chose light orange blouse with short sleeves - it looked great with skirt! After that Barbie posed also in striped skirt (which by the way looked great with orange blouse!)



After Blythe got her new pants Barbie requested something new for her too.
So she got mini skirt - very simple and very cute.







This light orange blouse will look great both with skirt and pants
(jeans? Also great choice!)

And stripes are in fashion!

Also my girls will get new friend soon - I just saw that adorable Frankie Stein (Monster High doll) in Collectable Dolls shop and I could not resist. I know I cannot aford her, but... let's say it's my birthday present for myself. Now I just have to wait while the beauty arrives...

Today's doll fashion - outfit for Blythe and bikini for Barbie

Today I made one more bikini for Barbie - this time white with bright red accents. Actually I think this design and color combination would look good also on ladies, not only dolls.

Also I decided to try something I've never done before - sewing. And as my Blythe girl needed something to wear when posing for new design jacket I decided to sew pants for her. As I don't have sewing machine and don't have any knowledge about constructing patterns process was... well let's say I improvised. Anyway result is not perfect, but at least I got idea and I definitely will return to sewing later.
But for now - here is Blythe in her new pants posing with new jacket (also made it today).

Handmade Barbie clothes - something for Your doll!

When I was a kid I did not like to play with dolls - may be because there were only "baby born" type dolls available and I hated those. When I got my first (and only one) Barbie doll I was in heaven. Fact that she was not original Mattel and used to lose all her extremities (including head) did not bother me much. What I loved about her - I could dress her up like real girl, real woman.

Now I've grown up, but still like to make clothes for Barbie dolls. Here are some of my latest creations for Barbie doll.

Oh, yes, wedding dress is THE dress every girl dreams of. Barbie also is a girl and has a dream about wedding outfit.
This is very romantic wedding outfit - white dress (bottom of which is embellished with many flowers), white headband and, of course, bride bouquet.

Pink outfit "from 20s"

Inspired from old photos of 20s I made this outfit with touch of fashion from that period. Still this outfit is absolutely modern. If wearing only dress, Barbie will look like modern girl in romantic summer dress. But add headband and boa... and she is ready to attend thematic partie!

Crochet hat for Barbie doll - tutorial pattern for beginners

For making this hat You will need 2 mm crochet hook and yarn that matches this size hook. I used 4ply mercerized cotton yarn. If You use different size hook or yarn result may differ from original (be bigger or smaller).
Used stitches:
ss - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
ch - chain

In rounds 1 - 9 I used back loop crocheting (insert hook under back loop).


O.K. Let's start!

Step 1

Chain 5.

Join with slip stitch (ss) to form a ring.

Step 3 - round 1

10 x single crochet (sc) in the ring; slip stitch (ss) in 2nd chain from the hook.

Chain one; [2 x single crochet in next chain, 1 x single crochet in next chain]; repeat [..] 4 more times; 1 x single crochet in next chain; slip stitch in next chain.  

Step 5 - round 3

2 x single crochet in next chain; 1 x single crochet in next chain]; repeat [..] 7 more times; slip stitch in next chain.

Step 6 - rounds 4 - 7

Round 4
1 x single crochet in each chain (24 times); ss in next chain from the hook.
Round 5
1 x sc in each chain (24 times); ss in next chain from the hook.
Round 6
1 x sc in each chain (24 times); ss in next chain from the hook.
Round 7
1 x sc in each chain (24 times); ss in next chain from the hook.

As You can see - all 4 rounds are the same.

You now have 2 choices

Leave the hat as is or continue
- turn to the other side.

You can either leave the hat as is (looks already nice, doesn't it?) or continue.

If You decide to continue, turn hat to the other side.

Step 7 - round 8

2 x single crochet (sc) in each chain.

Step 8 - round 9

In this round we will start to use double crochet (dc).

[2 double crochet in same chain; 6 x double crochet]; repeat [..] 5 more times; 2 x double crochet in same chain; 4 x double crochet; slip stitch in 2nd chain from hook.

Step 9 - round 10

Round 10 - finished hat.

1 x single crochet in each chain; slip stitch in next chain. Fasten off.
Congratulations! You have this cute Barbie doll hat. Now You can embellish it with some ribbon or flower... or just leave as is because it looks so cute :)
